More about Carlisle Kung Fu Center

At the Carlisle Kung Fu Center we practice a short fist southern Chinese Martial art called Xin Pai Bai Long Quan Fa, literally meaning the New school of White Dragon boxing method. Our style is very well rounded and includes aspects of kicking, sweeping, punching, blocking, ground fighting and joint locking techniques. At the Carlisle Kung Fu Center we provides the means for development as a complete martial arts practitioner.

Animal movements and attitude form a foundation for individual techniques. The movements of different animals, including tiger, leopard, snake, crane, and dragon, are taught so that the student can learn to mimic characteristics of each animal’s fighting prowess and understand the fighting attitude embodied by these powerful animals.

At the Carlisle Kung Fu Center, martial arts classes emphasize learning footwork, stances, punches, kicks, blocks, and reactionary ability. Breathing exercises(chi-gong) and forms(kata) training are also an important part of the curriculum at the Carlisle Kung Fu Center. Breathing exercises are taught so that students develop proper breathing, internal awareness, and strengthen the body internally. Forms training is a prearranged sequences of movements devised to teach theories of combat(offense and defense). Many of our forms imitate animal movements. Forms contain the fighting theories and basic concepts that are the foundation of Chinese Martial Arts.

Weapons are an important component in martial arts training. We practice several traditional Chinese weapons including: Chinese broadsword, staff, nunchaku, and kwan dao. Knife and gun self defense is also integrated into our curriculum.
