Surrounded by large oak trees and southern mansions along Bayou Lafourche, the Carmel Inn is built at the historic landmark site that was once a Mount Carmel convent and school, dating back to before the Civil War. Elements of the original building were preserved and restored, and incorporated into the present structure of this unique hotel.
