Carry Me Home

Carry Me Home is a New England-based 501c3 non-profit organization that is run 100% by volunteers. We are located in Brattleboro, VT.

Our primary mission is to support families fleeing zones of conflict. To that end we collect, sort, package, and ship weather-appropriate gently used children's clothing and footwear. When the need is particularly great -- as it is now -- we also ship footwear for adults. Click through our library of preparing shipments and of those same items being received on the other end.

We customize the sorting and packaging to fit the particular needs of receiving camps. For instance our last shipment to a refugee camp on the island of Lesvos, Greece, consisted of individual outfit packs for children. From underwear to outerwear, these packs aim to facilitate and speed up the process of dressing a child who is cold, wet, and possibly hypothermic. We add one small, age-appropriate toy to each outfit pack and to each baby carrier that we ship. Footwear is packaged separately, together with one or two pairs of socks. We routinely review the cost effectiveness of our shipments.

We have so far sent shipments to Babska, Croatia; Dobova, Slovenia; Presevo, Serbia; Chios, Polikastro and Idomeni Greece. We closely coordinate with field volunteers that work tirelessly on assisting refugees, and are in constant contact with trusted partners on the ground that both advise us as to current needs and connect us to camp coordinators that then supervise the distribution of our goods. As of February 2017 we have shipped over 9 tons of presorted, packaged aid to help those traveling along the Balkan route.

We need your help to finance the cost of shipping, of shipping supplies, and of the occasional purchase of specific clothing items needed to complete shipments, such as socks to include with footwear.
