Cart with a Heart

Cart with a Heart is a non-profit 501(c)(3) “pay-it-forward” hot dog cart started by Colleen Baldree and Melanie Williams. Both believe that regardless of how big the problems of the world may seem, each person can make a difference simply by taking time to show love, appreciation and kindness to the people around them.

We will offer beef and vegan hot dogs, chips and drinks. We plan to operate from Carroll Creek Linear Park, centrally located for lunchtime foot traffic and accessibility to the homeless population. We will be offering food for purchase and the opportunity for community members to also pre-purchase a meal to be donated.

Our Story:
The cart dream began in early 2015. We have both worked serving in various community programs, but have always had a desire to do more, making more of a personal impact. Inspiration came after hearing about a “pay-it-forward” Pizza shop in Philadelphia. Knowing we couldn’t afford the overhead of a brick and mortar store to begin with, the idea for the hot dog cart was born.

While our desire is to provide food to those who would not otherwise be able to afford a meal, we also wanted to give an opportunity for the community to help. We created the non-profit so that all who give know their donations will go directly to assisting us in being able to provide the meals. All donations and pre-purchased meals will be tax-deductible.
