The Carter County Soil Conservation District was organized and voted into exsistences as a District in 1948. The District is responsible for the overall Soil and Water Conservation Program as set-forthby the Kentucky State Law K.R.S. 262.200. The district is governed by a board of seven elected supervisors. Each supervisor is elected to a four year term. The board consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary/Treasurer and the four additional members. The board has a regular business meeting each month. It is held on the fourth Thursday of the month @ 6:30 p.m. at the office. Special meetings may be called by the Chair.

The board is responsible for entering into a working agreement with federal, state, and other local organizations who can render assistance in developing and carrying out a sound program of work that meets conservation objectives.
