What is a CASA?
A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer appointed by a judge to speak for the best interests of an abused or neglected child involved in a juvenile deprivation proceeding. The ultimate goal of a CASA volunteer is to help make sure the child has a safe and permanent home.

Troup CASA is a nonprofit organization that recruits, screens, trains and supervises community volunteers.

The CASA volunteer gathers information about the child's situation, attends court proceedings and makes recommendations to the judge so that the judge has the information to amke a decision about the child's future. The CASA volunteer advocates for the safety, permanency and well-being of the child.
