Hi! Thanks for taking a moment to learn a little about Casual Kate!

My name is Christy, and I am the owner behind Casual Kate. (Kate is my mom, in case you were wondering...) I am a stay-at-home-mom to my two crazy, sweet boys, and wife to my high school sweetheart since 1998.

I created Casual Kate as a new stay-at-home-mom initially to help fulfill the creative and business-oriented part of my personality. I soon realized that I wanted to make Casual Kate more than just a place where people could purchase items I made, I wanted to make it into something meaningful that would bring joy to others. My hope is that the Casual Kate brand, experience, and products ultimately bring joy to those that get to know Casual Kate.

I live in Surprise, AZ, about 30 minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix. Love it here, born and raised in the West Valley. My husband and I did spend 5 years in San Diego while he was attached to a ship in the US Navy, but we moved back "home" while he finished out his enlistment as a Recruiter and then we were settled as we entered back into civilian life. I went through many short "underway" stints and two full 6+ month deployments. We were young and didn't have kids yet; those years helped strengthen our marriage and make us into the adults we are today. I am very proud my husband served for almost 10 years, and I am proud to say I was privileged to be the wife of a Sailor for that time.

My name is Christy.... So, where does "Casual Kate" come from?! I always had the name, Rachel Kathrine, picked out for a baby girl. Rachel being a favorite name (my husband swears it is due to my Friends show obsession years back), and Kathrine after my mother's first full name. Yet, my husband and I were gifted two crazy BOYS! As I brain stormed for months about this idea for a shop, what I would make and sell, and what I would name it, I kept trying to find a way to use my Rachel Kathrine name. None of my name ideas seemed to fit or flow right. I was on a walk with my dog one afternoon and it somehow popped in my head. KATE! Kate is my mom's private nickname with my dad. She loves it, and very little people call her that. It just flowed from me, Casual Kate. That was it. DONE. Love you, Mom!
