Most people have some memory of church. If not a memory then certainly an opinion. And my guess is it goes something like this: They wanted me to behave a certain way, then they'd let me believe. Finally, I'd be able to belong.
That was never the method of Jesus nor should it be the method of His church. Jesus molded a different way. Go ahead and belong. Everyone. Sinners and saints. Everyone should be welcome regardless of where they come from, what they've been through or what they've done. After seeing Jesus, he trusted you would believe in Him. It was only then that behavior would change. And it would change because you saw how awesome Jesus is and would not want to live life any other way.
