Our Values and Vision
We are an embodiment of Church called to the social mission of Jesus Christ. As Catholic and Christian, we respect the holiness of all creation, yet recognize the need for spiritual renewal in individuals and in society. Within the traditional call to social mission, our charism is to generate renewal as reconcilers who foster a healing bond among individuals, families, the community and God. We recognize the dignity and gifts of each person and accept the diversity of responses to God's call to be fully human. We offer corporate witness to the importance of the creation of caring communities and a social order based on gospel values.
This vision summons us to live out the interdependent values of love and justice to lift oppression and heal the pain brought about by individual and social sin. We struggle to discern the causes of brokenness of individuals and families, of groups and of society itself. Our mutual responsibility is to uphold the dignity of each person through the work of reconciliation at all levels of society. We will be particularly sensitive to those who are poor, the least reconciled in our society, and especially those inadequately served by governmental agencies, in order to bring them to fuller participation in appropriate communities. Striving for partnership with local churches and caring organizations, our challenge is to extend the action of Christ to those in physical, emotional or spiritual need through service, advocacy and convening.
