Child Development Center, Inc. is a private non-profit developmental day center designed specifically to meet the needs of young children. Founded in 1959 by the New Hanover County Junior League, the center has progressed to serve special needs children from New Hanover, Pender, Brunswick, and Duplin counties of North Carolina.
Our volunteer board of directors is comprised of interested citizens, civic group representatives, and professional consultants. The Board is responsible for reviewing the Center’s fiscal operations and serving in an advisory capacity to the Executive Director.

The Center employs a diverse, professional staff which collaborates with educators, physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and nutritionists to develop individual education plans and therapeutic programs designed to meet the needs and goals of each child. In addition, the Center is licensed and accredited through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the Division of Mental Health/ Developmental Disabilities/ Substance Abuse Services, the Division of Public Health, and the Division of Child Development.
