More about Center for ASD

Our organization was founded in March of 2009 to assist those with Autism and other special needs, as well as their families, both emotionally and financially. Since then, our grass roots organization has helped over 100 families and that number is rapidly growing. We firmly believe to become successful, children with special needs learn and grow more with experience. For this reason we strive to find real world situations and opportunities for them to take part in that will lead to strong foundations for a successful life. We now have three major programs to turn these dreams into reality.

The X-CEL PROGRAM focuses on teens and young adults. We assist them in finding community service projects that will implement educational life lessons and job skills. These projects keep them active in the community instead of isolated as well as give the general public more experience around those with special needs which helps to dispel the many myths surrounding them.

THRIVE provides emotional and psychological support for families by bringing them together in a safe environment where their children can play and be accepted. A Parent Support Group has a licensed counselor teach a variety of skills to aid in stronger familial relationships. A Teen Group allows kids with special needs the opportunity to learn basic social skills and talk openly in a safe environment. The social skills the kids learn and the support the families receive reach far past the doors of our Center.

GROW is the new and upcoming after school program which will provide one on one tutoring and continued socialization with peers after the school bell rings. The participants will be assessed and have a plan put in place by a BCBA to help them achieve the most possible success. This is for students Pre K through 12th grade.

The Center for ASD now accepts Medicaid and has partnered with Behavioral Innovations in order to provide the best care possible. The Center also fills the gap for those adults who have aged out of standard government and private programs. The Center not only provides a much needed respite for the families but a chance for these adults to test and expand their boundaries, to be a part of the world around them.
