The Center for Education Abroad (CEA) serves students who wish to customize their undergraduate experience by going abroad. CEA provides advising for students planning to spend a summer, semester, or year abroad. Education Abroad Advisors are also Academic Advisors and work with students to help fit international educational experiences into their undergraduate programs.
Students majoring in all academic disciplines may go abroad. By the time of graduation, about one third of University of Rochester (UR) undergraduates have had an international educational experience. Most students study abroad in their junior year or in the first semester of their senior year, although a number of programs are open to sophomores. Education abroad during the summer is also an option. UR offers more than 75 programs in 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America, and New Zealand. There’s something for everyone!
It’s never too early to start exploring your options. Students majoring in science and engineering are especially encouraged to begin exploring their options during their freshman year. The best way to find out more is to attend an Education Abroad General Information Meeting and to meet with an Education Abroad Peer Advisor.
