Center for International Stabilization and Recovery - CISR

Since 1996, CISR has been dedicated to understanding and solving issues in global conflict. In fulfilling its mission, CISR undertakes a variety of projects and services to facilitate the recovery of communities and individuals affected by war and conflict. Specifically, the center provides management training for organizations charged with clearing land contaminated with explosive remnants of war, capacity-building training for peer support and disability rights organizations, and develops technical tools and conducts field research in cooperation with James Madison University faculty. In addition, CISR produces and publishes three annual editions of The Journal of Conventional Weapons Destruction (formerly The Journal of ERW and Mine Action), a professional trade journal for the humanitarian mine action and explosive remnants of war (ERW) community, and the longest continuous source of information on CWD and Mine Action in the world.
