Center Hill Children's Mission

We provide a safe, fun, lo">Most of our children are Hispanic and their parents don’t speak English. This makes it hard to help with homework. We provide homework assistance during our after school programs. We love working with the children on their math, spelling, reading, science, and anything they can come up with that is school related. During science project time this taxes our brains but is quite fun to watch them try experiments and see the light turn on when they understand what is happening. They are some of the best readers in the schools and we love spending time reading to them and listening to them read. One of the first girls to start the program ten years ago is now in college (2015) studying to be in the medical field. We are proud of all our girls and boys and look forward to sharing many more success stories.
In addition to school help we also talk a lot about personal responsibility and hygiene. The children take care of supplies and picking up after themselves. And we stress a good personal hygiene and try to provide products when available and necessary. We are also providing clothing and sometimes household items (i.e. mattresses). These girls and boys are constantly growing! We cannot possibly provide everything they need but we try to help the parents as much as possible.
Many of the children receive free breakfast and lunch at school. We are providing many meals as well. During the summer breakfast, lunch and snacks. And sending dinners home to those in need. During the school year snacks and dinner.
During the summer we love to take field trips and do fun activities. We have a list of fun things we do and are always looking for new, fun and free (or sponsored) things to do. The children enjoy picnics at the park, the water park at Zephyrhills (free!), and some have even had tennis lessons. On Friday we have WATER DAY right at the church with inflatable pools and water games.
Most importantly we are showing them Jesus! We are loving them and showing God’s affection to them. We have an abundance of hugs, tickles, kisses and all around positive attention. We are doing bible studies Wednesday night and Church service on Sunday night. There are two Pastors that donate their time and take turns coming to Sunday nights.
