CH2M was founded in January 1946 in Corvallis, Oregon, as CH2M—a name derived from the initials of the company’s four founders: Holly Cornell, James Howland, and T. Burke Hayes, and Fred Merryfield. Since then, we have grown to become a global leader in engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance. With 30,000 employees worldwide, we focus on delivering creative, cost-effective and valued solutions on every assignment.

CH2M is currently the 6th largest employer in Alaska and the 2nd largest employer in the oil & gas industry. Our people are engineers, planners, designers, construction professionals & craftsmen, quality professionals and safety professionals. But they are more than just employees; our people are also the volunteers, coaches, hunters, mentors, committee members, fishermen and women you see all over
the state.

In a unique partnership with UAA, we helped develop a Project Management educational program. To date, 34 of our project delivery staff have graduated from UAA and the Project Management Institute (PMI) and are now certified project managers. We are also committed to the training, development, and hiring of qualified Alaskans. CH2M was recognized by the Alaska State Department of Labor as the 2009 Employer of the year for our Southwest Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program, which hires and trains Alaska high school graduates in welding.
