Challenged Champions Equestrian Center

The mission of Challenged Champions Equestrian Center is to support individuals with special needs from early childhood through adulthood. Opportunities are provided through horseback riding and other horse related activities that promote physical, emotional, and mental development. Challenged Champions is a cooperative effort of dedicated individuals that include trained personnel and community volunteers. Founded in 1997, Challenged Champions is a horseback riding facility located outside of Ottawa, Ohio that provides a variety of services to our local communities. Using the horse and its environment presents unique opportunities for individuals with disabilities by adding a dimension to their lives that extends dreams beyond the confines of their disability.
Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) are teaching individuals with disabilities to ride and interact with the horse. Our program is open to individuals 4 years old and older. Some benefits of EAAT include; Improved balance, Motor and trunk control, Improved hand-eye coordination, Increased self confidence, Improved Speech, Increased endurance, Improved posture, and it builds friendships.
