Charleston TinTypist (Christine Eadie) is one of the few artists in the world who still creates authentic handmade tintype photographs for paying customers in her South Carolina studio. Tintypes are old-fashioned looking photographs made on metal plates using the original wet-plate collodion process from the 1850s. Christine uses vintage wooden cameras and brass lenses to make each one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality tintype. They look exactly the same as the photographs from the civil war period because the process hasn’t changed!
