Chester Park Trail Race

The Chester Park Trail Race is a 5k running race on pure dirt mountain bike, ski and singletrack hiking trails through the beautiful Chester Park in the heart of Duluth, Minnesota.

The 5k (3.1 mile) trail run course starts and finishes in the field at the end of Chester Park Drive. It is a clockwise loop. Athletes run across the field towards the bridge over Chester Creek, hook left over the bridge and up the ski trail. At the first ski intersection, the course takes a right-hand turn and joins the Duluth Traverse mountain bike trail.

The Duluth Traverse takes athletes across the rim of Chester Park. At a scenic Lake Superior overlook, the course turns sharply downhill towards the parking lot. Across the lot, runners cross under the bridge at Skyline, and travel down the Dan Proctor Hiking Trail to the second footbridge. Runners cross the bridge, take a right, and follow the Hiking Trail back up under Skyline Blvd, and follow the foot path towards the ski lift. At a small log bridge, the course crosses Chester Creek and runners finish the 5k loop on Chester Park Drive back to the field and finish line.
