More about Chi Omega at Florida State University

It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 3000,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women.

The Gamma chapter of Chi Omega was the second women’s sorority chartered on Florida State’s campus on May 7th, 1908. Since our arrival on the FSU campus, Gamma has initiated more than 2,000 members. Currently, we have 210 beautiful collegiate members and 38 girls that live in the chapter house on West Jefferson Street. In April 2008 over 400 alumnae joined us for Gamma Chapter’s Centennial Celebration! To commemorate our 100th year at Florida State University, our chapter dedicated a large statue named “Three Sisters” that was the catalyst for renovation and beautification of Greek Park on FSU's campus.

Gamma looks forward to celebrating many more monumental occasions and leading the way in excellence on the FSU campus.
