The Oakland Area Office serves both Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and works in the communities of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, Richmond, San Pablo, and Pinole, as well as the unincorporated communities of North Richmond, Bayview-Montalvin, Rollingwood, East Richmond Heights, and Arlington Heights.
The California Highway Patrol is the primary law enforcement agency for the freeways and highways of the State of California. In addition, the CHP is also responsible for all State-owned facilities and properties. The CHP also provides traffic enforcement services and works closely with the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office to provide general law enforcement to the unincorporated communities of Contra Costa County. CHP also provides assistance to other law enforcement agencies as needed.
