More about Chris' Hot Dogs

Dexter Avenue in Montgomery Alabama is home to history. Martin Luther King, Jr. accepted his call to ministry on this street. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat on this street. It's seen quite a bit of change in its day, but something that hasn't changed for a century is Chris' Hot Dogs.

Founded in 1917, Chris' Hot Dogs have been enjoyed by every walk of life. It is a place where young and old, rich and poor, as well as people of all races are welcome and have sat together in the quaint dining area of this Montgomery institution. We’ve had customers from every state in the Union, and countless guests from other countries. Some of our more notable patrons include Franklin D. Roosevelt (who would frequently ask for a box of the world famous hot dogs as his train stopped in the Montgomery train station), Harry Truman, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Presidents Bush 41 & 43, Jimmy Stewart, Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Clark Gable, Tallulah Bankhead and Whoopi Goldberg. Since our opening in 1917, every Alabama Governor has eaten at Chris’.

Please join us and be included in the history of Chris’ Famous Hot Dogs. We would love to meet you.
