The core values of Christ Church are Worship, Word, and Witness. First, our desire is to draw people into authentic, God-focused, God-honoring worship. We will gather not to see a band or choir perform, but to worship God for what he has done and is doing in and through us. We worship God because he alone is worthy of our praise and adoration. Our goal is to offer our very lives, every aspect of them, our families, our careers, our very selves as "living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God" as our "spiritual act of worship" (Romans 12:2).
Second, our desire is to be a people deeply rooted in the Word of God. Our goal is not to be another church that is a mile wide and an inch deep. The call of Christ is to make disciples, not develop programs. To the extent that specific programs help us in our effort to become authentic disciples of Jesus, they will be utilized as tools. But our heart is to disciple people deeply, to create environments in which people are really transformed by the power of the love of Christ, to take off our "Sunday costumes" and live authentically as Christ-followers.
And third, our desire is to witness in our community and to the ends of the earth of the impact of the love of Christ, the power of the Gospel, in our lives. Our community often hides behind a facade. Our desire is to reach and minister to the hurting, the homeless, the lonely, the forgotten, the addicted behind the facade, regardless of what they look like and how they dress. This is Christ's Church, and those he loves, we will love in word, in deed, and in welcoming hospitality.
That's it. That is the DNA of Christ Church. That is what we are about. Worship, Word, and Witness. Not complicated. Not difficult.
