More about Chuck Greaves/C. Joseph Greaves

Books and I go back a long way. Ray Bradbury and Arthur Conan Doyle were among my early favorites, and probably planted the seed that, after 25 years of schooling and 25 years of courtroom work, finally took root in 2006, when I made the quantum leap from law to literature. Sometimes it takes a while to find your path in life. Most folks never do. I like to think I'm one of the lucky ones. Hush Money (Minotaur), the first in my Jack MacTaggart series of legal mysteries, won the SouthWest Writers' Storyteller Award and was a finalist for numerous national honors, including the Shamus Award from the P.I. Writers of America, the Rocky Award from Left-Coast Crime, the New Mexico/Arizona Book Award, and the Audie Award from the Audiobook Publishers Association for best mystery audiobook of 2012. Hard Twisted (Bloomsbury), my novelization of a Depression-era true crime, was also published in 2012 under the name C. Joseph Greaves, and was promptly hailed as "a taut and intriguing thriller" (London Sunday Times) and "a gritty, gripping read, and one that begs to be put on film" (Los Angeles Times), and was a finalist for the Oklahoma Book Award in Fiction. These were followed by two more MacTaggart mysteries, Green-Eyed Lady (2013) and The Last Heir (2014), the latter a finalist for the Colorado Book Award. All will soon be joined by Tom & Lucky (and George & Cokey Flo), coming from Bloomsbury in November of 2015. Whatever your literary tastes, I hope you'll * Like * this page, and that you'll follow along as I continue what I hope will be a long and successful writing career. Because whatever you do and wherever you do it, it's never too late to find your true calling.
