The church in Englewood was birth out of a prayer meeting, which began in the spring of 1986. At the invitation of Sister Delores Buchanan, Bishop Walter G. McKoy along with the late Sister Alvira Whyte held regular prayer meetings at their home located at 184 Shepherd Avenue. On April 11, 1987 the church was officially dedicated as a branch by our presiding Bishop, Apostle R.C. Williams.

The infant congregation, a membership of five began to hold its worship services in the basement of Westside Presbyterian Church located at 192 West Demarest Avenue, Englewood, New Jersey. As the membership increased, it was evident that a larger place of worship was needed. Eventually God provided the upstairs auditorium in the same building for His people to worship. The initial vision of Pastor McKoy was to purchase a building where the people of God could worship without restrictions. This clearly became a united effort with the saints. With an active Building Fund Department, a diligent campaign was started towards this effort. Many fund raising activities were initiated and implemented. Although there was a shortage of funds, our Pastor never lost focus because he trusted God to make a way.


The vision to get our own place of worship became a reality in 1997. Through much hard work and perseverance, we purchased our place of worship located at 127-135 Lafayette Place, Englewood, New Jersey. As we embarked on the renovation process, we were met with many obstacles and hindrances. However, renovations and remodeling came to completion in 1998. On April 12, 1998, we marched from our old location, 192 West Demarest Avenue, to our new location for our first service. This was a march of praise and thanksgiving.

God has been good to us, He has allowed us to serve in the spirit of excellence, integrity and compassion for our community. Over the years, we have developed a reputation for reaching the lost and the broken. We serve them with the utmost level of dignity and respect. The church here in Englewood is recognized for our warmth, open door policy and our support to the friends of our community. Our environment inspires maximum participation, promotes personal satisfaction, supports and molds effective leadership.

Though the past has been inspiring, the future looks even brighter. The church is committed to excellence and hence we crave your sincere prayer that God will continue to bless us in all our endeavors. Our motto: “Making A Difference”.
