First played on August 26, 1955 at Ratcliffe Stadium in Fresno, the City/County All-Star Football Game continues to be a Valley tradition. This game make it possible for high school athletes who have played against each other for the past four years to play side by side creating a shared comaraderie that has resulted in friendships and in many cases, lifelong bonds. The game and its sense of community exemplifies what makes out community a special place to live.
This year's game will once again be hosted by The Greater Fresno Optimist Club and in addition to the opportunities it affords players and fans, all proceeds benefit The Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County. That means the real winners of this game are the at-risk youth in our community. Over the past 15 years, proceeds from this game have funded over $500,000 in programs and services for The Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County. We can think of nothing more important today than keeping our community's youth focused and moving forward with positive and productive outlook.
