The City of Burlington Fire Department is a combination department with career and volunteer members. There is one career Fire Chief, one Full time Fire Inspector, three career Firefighters and 40 Volunteer Firefighters. The CBFD uses the teamwork of all it's members to provide a high level of fire protection and EMS care to the citizens of the City of Burlington.
The CBFD protects just under 8 square miles with a population of 10,500 citizens. Between the City's 4 major roadways (83, 36, 11, 142) there are about 36,500 cars that pass through daily. With target hazards such as Burlington Memorial Hospital, Nestles' Chocolate Factory and other large industries, the CBFD staffs and trains it's firefighters to an ISO Class 3 rating.
The CBFD is a dynamic fire department that is on target to run 1000 calls this year with it's new First Responder Program. Working closely with The Burlington Rescue Squad, the CBFD first responds to all EMS calls in the City and uses teamwork to provide a high level of care to people in need.
The City of Burlington Fire Department puts high importance on tradition but also sees the need to be progressive in the fire service. Visitors are always welcome and anyone with interest in joining please call if you have questions, or come in for an application.
