City of Grand Rapids Office of Diversity and Inclusion

This office has three functions in which is serves the public: community diversity, workforce diversity, and supplier diversity.

The community diversity function is to administer and monitor community diversity efforts including but not limited to: monitoring the Americans with Disabilities Act; providing leadership on hate crime initiatives in Grand Rapids; reviewing and analyzing the diversity efforts of financial institutions wishing to receive basis points under the City's Investment Policy; and increasing the City's capacity to serve Non-English speaking customers.

The workforce diversity responsibilities include providing technical assistance to managers and supervisors regarding a variety of employment related issues including but not limited to: Americans with Disability Act (ADA) reasonable accommodations, employment opportunities and recruiting, and interviewing.

Finally, the supplier diversity division of the office of Diversity and Inclusion strives for the inclusion of all types of businesses in City contracts. This division administers the award-winning Equal Business Opportunity (EBO) programs in goods and services, professional services, construction, and the certification of Micro-Local Business Enterprises (Micro-LBEs).
