City of San Antonio Head Start Program

The City of San Antonio has served as the Head Start grantee for the San Antonio and Bexar County area for over 30 years. Over this time our direct service providers have changed, but the fundamental mission of the program has remained the same, to ensure that all children in the San Antonio area have equal opportunities for future success in school and life.

Two contract educational service providers operate 26 center locations throughout the City of San Antonio to serve over 3000 children. The City of San Antonio contracts with additional support service providers to deliver medical, dental and mental wellness services to children and families.

The City of San Antonio was recently awarded an Early Head Start/Child Care Partnership Grant and partners with five area child care centers to provide services to 216 infants and toddlers.
