The 1% Advisor's Fee - Don't get caught in this very expensive trap!

It seems like the going rate for a financial advisor these days is an annual advisory fee of 1% to 1.5% of the assets you place with the advisor to manage. Paying advisory fees based on a percentage of the amount you invest (an asset-based fee) is detrimental to your long-term financial goals. Think about it: If the value of your investment accounts is expected to grow over time simply due to an increase in the financial markets, then why should an advisor's fee (compensation) automatically increase due to the markets' appreciation? Something they have absolutely zero control over.
