Clemson PDREC Public Education

Welcome to the Pee Dee Research and Education Center! The PDREC encompasses over 2,300 acres of crops, gardens, forests and wildlife habitat, ponds and wetlands, a 150-acre lake called Dargan’s Pond, and is home to Clemson University’s Outdoor Education Trail.

The mission of the Pee Dee Research and Education Center is to foster economic stability and development by conducting research and education programs focused on traditional and new plant-based systems appropriate to the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.

We provide a variety of natural science and agriculture programs for students and the public, all free or at minimal cost. We welcome schools, church groups, clubs, organizations and anyone else who’s interested to come visit! Contact us to learn more about our program offerings and to schedule a tour. Because we are a private research facility, we do not have regular public visiting hours, and all visits or tours must be scheduled with us in advance.

We also hold several larger events every year that are open to the public, including our largest annual event, Pee Dee Outdoor Discovery Day, held each year on the first Saturday in May.
