Cliffview Retreat and Conference Center

Cliffview Retreat and Conference Center, a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington, welcomes individuals and groups of all faith traditions, as well as organizations and businesses. We offer a peaceful, rural setting perfect for overnight retreats and/or one day events. We offer overnight accommodations and plenty of food prepared in our own kitchen. Cliffview has 32 guest rooms, 29 of which have two twin beds; one has a full-size bed, two are handicap accessible. To accommodate a wheel chair the latter are furnished with a double bed. Quilts are used in all of the rooms adding a feeling of warmth while speaking of Cliffview's connection to Appalachia. Before furnishing the rooms a survey was taken: "What do you appreciate most in a guest room?" Without fail the items most often mentioned were, "A good bed, a private bathroom and good reading lamps." In addition, each room has a its own heating and air conditioning unit for individual comfort.

Cliffview's dining room is a popular place. Some 72 diners can be accommodated at round tables at one sitting. Well planned nutritious meals – the "from scratch" kind - are served buffet style. Home baked bread, fresh from the oven is served with every group dinner. Special attention is gladly given to dietary restrictions – however, it is important to advise the kitchen in advance. The patio off the dining room is an ideal place to welcome the day with a cup of coffee, have lunch with friends or have a group social or – with the Weber grill at hand - a barbeque.

The Bishop Ackerman Chapel holds up to 100 people and is equipped with wireless internet access. Adjoined to the main building by a covered walkway, Cliffview's second building, the Bishop Ackerman chapel, serves both as a chapel and a conference center. A large room with windows on two sides, it is light and welcoming. A fabric wall hanging that depicts the topography of the diocese provides a relaxing focal point. An altar is available for worship services, as are the piano and organ. A sacristy contains materials necessary for liturgy. When used for retreats or conferences, round or rectangular tables can be set up to meet the needs of each group. Audiovisual equipment is available for all of your needs. A small Eucharistic chapel is off the main room providing both space and environment for private prayer. Outside there is a terraced area that serves as an outdoor chapel where worship services can be held in a natural setting.

In the main building there are three meeting rooms - one large and two smaller. The largest is a bright room located upstairs (The Upper Room) which can handle 24 people at square tables for four. On either side of this room are two breakout rooms which can accommodate 8-12 in a conversational setting. The primary meeting room, adjoined to the main building by a covered walkway, in addition to being as place of worship is easily converted to a conference center. A large, well-lit room, it can accommodate as many as 80 in a variety of seating arrangements. In addition to round tables, rectangular tables can be used or the traditional row seating is an option, as well. AV equipment is available. We now have wireless internet accessibility.

Cliffview is a traditional Roman Catholic retreat center and a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Lexington. Guests to Cliffview must agree that they will not engage in conduct or otherwise use the premises in any manner whatsoever which is unacceptable to the religious beliefs and tenets of Cliffview and further agree that it will not use said premises for a purpose which, in the exclusive judgement of Cliffview, would be detrimental to or tend to injure the reputation of Cliffview.

Cliffview Center and the Guest acknowledge that Cliffview retains the authority to terminate any Lease Agreement at any time without liability to the Guest if Cliffview determines in its sole judgement that the Guest's conduct or use of the premises or facilities is or might be unacceptable to Cliffview under the provisions and standards set forth in the preceding paragraph.
