CMU Silicon Valley

Carnegie Mellon University is a global leader in engineering and computer science research and education. In 2002, the University established a natural extension in the San Francisco Bay Area, integrating the rich heritage and resources of the Pittsburgh campus with the opportunities available in the highly innovative and entrepreneurial Silicon Valley. Today, the College of Engineering offers several distinctive graduate programs at its campus in Mountain View, Calif., in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary academic environment that prepares students to be leaders in the tech industry’s most innovative companies. We currently have more than 250 students enrolled in five graduate engineering programs, including more than 50 completing their studies through CMU's bicoastal programs.

Cutting-edge research with a problem-solving impact is a cornerstone of Carnegie Mellon’s institutional identity. The Silicon Valley campus is based on a strong and growing set of research programs related to mobile computing, security, the Internet of Things, machine learning, and software as a service.
