Coastal Drug Store

Coastal Drug Store was opened in 1936 by Frederick Mintz, local Business Man and Farmer. "Mr. Fred" as he was commonly called, was trained as a Pharmacist by Dr. Malcolm Rourk. Mr. Fred learned the pharmacy trade and he worked long hours and was available 24 hours a day to the local community. When the requirements from the Board demanded a pharmacy degree, Mr. Fred hired Mr. Charlie Young and
his wife, Mrs. Margaret Young. Mr. Charlie and Ms. Margaret became a part of the history of Coastal Drug Store and they ran the drugstore as if it was their own.
The drugstore had the first television and the first telephone in town. On Election nights, people would gather and the results of the national and local elections were
posted on a Blackboard. The drugstore used to have a soda fountain and many people remember the five cent colas and five cent ice-cream cones.
Mr. Fred died in 2007. His daughter, Theresa, now owns the drugstore.
We live by Mr. Fred's principles to put people first.
Coastal Drug Store is thrilled to have a competent and friendly staff. Brent
Tyndall is our Pharmacy Manager and Fred Chamblee works two days a week.
Both Pharmacists are available to answer any questions you may have about your
medication.
