The Jewish people have called Charleston home since the 1690’s. As a part of this historic community, the College of Charleston JSU/Hillel anchors students in the unique Judaism of Charleston, at once being shaped by it and transforming it.
The JSU/Hillel serves as the center for Jewish life at the College of Charleston. We’re a pluralistic, student‐run organization that offers a variety of Jewish‐themed programming for the entire student body as well as a chance for Jewish students to connect with each other in a laid back, supportive environment.
CofC has a Jewish population of about 800 students. The Hillel, housed in the Yaschik Jewish studies center, is within walking distance of the local Reform and Orthodox synagogues, and a short drive from the Conservative synagogue. We are next door to Marty's Place, the College's new Kosher/vegan/vegetarian dining hall.
