Comfort for Kids

Comfort for Kids was inspired by my daughter, Kirsten Hercules. She was diagnosed with 22q 11.2 Deletion Syndrome in November 2011 at the age of 6. Kirsten has had many health problems since birth. Kirsten has had many surgeries including open heart surgery, tonsillectomy, and most recently a Pharyngeal Flap Surgery at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Oh. This surgery corrected a profound speech problem and has given Kirsten a new voice. For the first time in her life she sounds like other kids her age.
During her hospital stay Kirsten received several care packages to help keep her mind off of the pain and to keep her busy. Her packages included things like itunes gift cards, coloring books, art activities, teddy bears, and even dsi games. All of these things helped to comfort Kirsten throughout her recovery. She felt so special. After her recovery Kirsten wanted to bring this same comfort to other 22q kids so "Comfort for Kids" was born.
