Community Carbon Exchange

The Community Carbon Exchange (CCX) is an organization whose mission is to empower individuals to take control of their carbon footprint and responsibility. Our community based programs incentivize planet friendly behavior by partnering with local businesses, institutions, and individuals to participate in offset generation and purchasing, which, then returns dividends to those individuals who are decreasing their carbon impact. Our offset programs have a direct and immediate impact, in the community, by making sustainable investments locally. Offsets are measured by comparing specific individual activities to a local carbon generating baseline average. Following the use of our Carbon Calculator, one may purchase offsets to mitigate a personal or an organizational carbon footprint (Co2 emissions/carbon use) or receive dividends for offset creation, if one falls below baseline targets in a given area. Our programs incentivize CO2 reduction and promote sustainable practices in tangible ways within the local community and economy. We are already working with several agencies, like the Sycamore Land Trust to create local offset initiatives in support of the CCX’s mission. A Launch celebration will be taking place Saturday, February 25th, at the John Waldron Arts Center from 7-11 pm. There will be live music, comedy, performance arts and complimentary refreshments.
