History of COMMUNITY:

COMMUNITY is a church that began as the dream of five friends from college who wanted to create a place that would help people find their way back to God. Services were first held in the western suburb of Naperville, and eight years later COMMUNITY launched its first additional location in Romeoville, IL. Today, COMMUNITY has 14 locations throughout Chicagoland.

From the beginning, the mission of Community Christian Church has always been helping people find their way back to God. We believe that a Christfollower’s
discipleship incorporates three critical components: Celebrating, Connecting and Contributing. We Celebrate through our weekend Celebration Services, when we worship together and learn through the Big Idea. We Connect in Small Groups, which can vary by topic, age, gender, location and meeting time, to meet the needs of everyone who attends. We Contribute by giving of our time, talent and treasure to Reach people who are far from God, Restore God’s dream for the world, and Reproduce the mission in others. Here’s what this looks like:

Reach – We desire to REACH people who are currently far from God. We believe that God radically loves those who do not yet have a lifesaving
relationship with Jesus. As a church, we desire to reflect the heart of God by building authentic relationships, loving unconditionally, and blessing people that God puts in our lives.

Restore – We desire to RESTORE God’s dream for this world. We believe that the world now is not what it was originally created to be. Our world is full of brokenness, poverty, and injustice. As a church, we desire to partner with God to help restore lives and communities back to God’s original design.

Reproduce – We desire to REPRODUCE the Jesus Mission in the lives of others.
We believe that God desires for His followers to apprentice others in what it means to follow Jesus. As we do this, we will also work toward reproducing groups, campuses, and churches that are committed to helping more people find their way back to God.
