Connection Rio Academy

Connection Rio Academy of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu has been years in the making. Bend native and life long martial artist Dennis Asche has dedicated more than eleven years of his life on Brazilian soil in the cradle of BJJ, Rio de Janeiro.

By way of the Gracie family (Master Rorion & GM Helio Gracie) professor Asche was introduced to Brazil and began his time as a purple belt in South America 2003. There, as Rorion had promissed was the beginning of a "life changing experience" that would last more than a decade as professor Asche would earn his brown and black belt under Roberto 'Gordo' Correa, master of the half guard and jiu-jitsu professor to UFC world champion Rafael dos Anjos.

During his time in Rio, professor Asche not only trained and competed, he created and founded the world's first jiu-jitsu hostel accommodating thousands of athletes from around the world. There he would teach and train with many athletes, from all nationalities and all skill levels on the newtral grounds of Connection Rio BJJ Hostel.

Now with years of experience and accummulated knowledge there grew a burning desire to return home to share what had been learned abroad.

Connection Rio Academy brings with it a new era of jiu-jitsu to Central Oregon, with the know-how to create a union in the martial arts community of Central Oregon and put Bend on the map as a destination for world class training at all levels of experience.
