Cornerstone Church Anchorage Alaska

There are two simple words that will introduce Cornerstone Church to you and help you understand our heart and focus for ministry. Jesus said to His followers - "Make Disciples".

Those two words are the reason we do what we do as a church.

• We come together as a church to learn and grow in what it means to be disciples of Christ.

• We work together toward helping those who do not know Christ to accept His grace and become His disciples themselves.

In striving to be faithful to those two words we have structured our ministry around our 'Vision Statement'.

Save the Lost - There are so many who have not experienced the transforming grace of God offered through Jesus' sacrificial death. We want to influence as many as possible to experience God's saving grace by sharing the good news of who Jesus is and what He has done to offer this grace to them, leading them to repent of sin and trust in Christ alone for their salvation.

Grow the Found - We want to lead those who have accepted God's grace to continually grow in His grace. We know that God's Spirit uses God's Word and God's people to make us like God's Son for God's glory. We strive to participate with that work of the Holy Spirit's as He leads us into truth. To us, growth means becoming more and more like Jesus in our desires, thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions.

Send the Empowered - God's word says that we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. As we grow together we encourage followers of Christ to understand how God has uniquely fashioned and gifted them. We want each one to discover God's vision for their life, and then to become equipped to step out and step into that vision in the power of God's Spirit.

This work of saving, growing, and sending all takes place within the context of loving relationships.

Jesus' call to "make disciples" is not an easy task; in fact it is impossible for us. However, it is not impossible for God and us. God has sent His Holy Spirit to live in, and empower, each follower of Christ to join Him in accomplishing the impossible.
