More about Crabb, Stewart, Key, Dotson Home

The interest in the home began when Robert Dotson noticed some strange carvings in a rock in the chimney that appeared to be native carvings. The strange carvings began an extensive search in to the abstract of the land to identify who owned the home in the past and find out why the glyphs were carved. The land title has been discovered in detail, but the native glyphs remain a mystery.
The land title showed an interesting Morgan County resident that owned the property in 1818 named Thomas Drain Crabb. Mr. Crabb was one of two Morgan County delegates to the 1819 Alabama Constitutional Convention that created our state from the Mississippi Territory. Crabb was a signer of the Constitution, and later, a state Senator for two terms. He was also the first sheriff of Cotaco County, and later became the first sheriff of Morgan County. Crabb also co-founded Moulton, in Lawrence County.
