Crane Hill Communities Volunteer Fire and EMS Department

Crane Hill Volunteer Fire Department is made up of 27 active firefighters and is located in western Cullman County, Alabama. Our primary coverage area is 54 square miles with a population of around 7,500. Our population number more than doubles during the summer months and major holidays due to lake recreation and occupancy of second homes. Our coverage area is unique in the fact that we protect an area surrounding a very large lake. Smith Lake is 21,200 acres and touches three separate counties. Due to the lake's size and many branches, we have a large network of two-lane roads and bridges.

We operate out of four stations and 9 apparatus. We respond to incidents involving fires, motor vehicle accidents, water rescues, storm damage and medical emergencies.
