Critical Mash Brewing

Critical Mash is a brewery that is not afraid to bring about the amount of grain necessary for each of its hand craft beers to sustain a chain reaction at a rate constant enough to produce the high gravity we have come to know and love. Here at Critical Mash, we do not believe the alcohol makes the beer, however, when done correctly, higher alcohol beer possesses many characteristics not found in its lower gravity brothers. The point of the higher alcohol content is not inebriation, but abdication of small beers, marathon beers, and of session ales. Our beers start with a higher gravity in order serve a higher pallet.

Critical Mash is the Homebrewing Project and brainchild of Jacob Pyle. Here we specialize in not any one particular style of beer, but in the creation of "larger" versions of many styles. It is not just about higher ABV. Its about creating the same harmony, balance, feel, and flavor of the original on a bigger scale. We have upgraded our set up to a full on, single tier, Blichmann electric brewing system with a capacity of up to 1/2 bbl.
