On the lands of the Morristown National Historical Park at the site of the NJ Brigade Unit, the gardens were primarily developed in the 1930's by Julia Newbold Cross, along with landscape architect Clarence Fowler. They include a formal walled perennial garden and native gardens, a wisteria-covered pergola, and a mountain laurel allee. Parking and entry is free. The garden is maintained by volunteers who meet every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to Noon, weather permitting, from April to November.New volunteers are always welcome! The gardens are located near the meeting of Jockey Hollow Rd. in Bernardsville (off of Rte. 202) and Leddell Rd. in Mendham (off of Tempe Wick Rd.)
