More about Team WNY Weightlifting

Crossfit Buffalo Barbell Club is not just for competitive Olympic lifters. Whether you are an athlete/crossfitter striving to increase performance, or you're looking for a fun way to stay active, Coach Steven Titus can provide you with Individualized programming to help you obtain your goal.

Suddenly I feel kind of old. Recently I hit the 10 year anniversary of my start in coaching. It has gone by in the blink of an eye. I have seen and experienced a ton of awesome things. I have coached and worked with national medalists. I have seen WNY grow into a dominating force in the Empire State Games. I have seen athletes come through my program and use it as a spring board to achieving their goals in scholastic athletics. And now I get to see a group of people that, 5 years ago, I never would have thought knew what a clean and jerk was not only show interest in them, but also learn to do them and enjoy them.

Seeing this has made the past 2 years far and away the most enjoyable of my career. As little as you may see me actually smile and show positive emotion on a daily basis, trust me it happens exponentially more often than it did before my joining forces with CFB. Almost weekly I get a text, or hear from a member or have Dave tell me of a member hitting a PR. This makes me smile. A lot. As hectic as my life is, things like that keep the wind in my sails.

A lot of people have had success and enjoy (I hope) the strength program that comes with regular classes at CFB. I am very proud of this program. I had never programmed for the masses, so to speak, before. And with some tweeks and guidance from Dave and Doc J. I feel that we have come up with a pretty damn good thing. That said, there has been a growing interest from some members for more specified training/programming from me. So let me introduce the Crossfit Buffalo Barbell Club.

-Coach Steve

We are going to offer 3 different options for the barbell club. They are as follows along with a brief description.

Level 1 (For crossfit buffalo members) $60 per month

-individualized programming for barbell based strength
-coaching 3 days per week with either Coach Steve or one of his assistants
-constant evaluation and refinement of technique with barbell movements

This program is designed for someone interested in learning and perfecting technique on a level with competitive lifters, and programming designed not only to enhance strength but maximize technical proficiency. An athlete interested in this will be training on a similar level to that of a competitive weightlifter in an environment with fellow Crossfitters as well as competitive lifters. I highly recommended those interested in this level to consider lifting in a local level competition, but it is NOT required. (Those interested in competing must become member of USA Weightlifting)

Level 2 (for Crossfit Buffalo Member) $40 per month

-a initial consultation with Coach Steve to establish training goals and evaluate current strength numbers
-an individualized strength program based on the evaluation

This program is designed for athletes looking to enhance general strength without concentrating on the subtle nuances of the technical aspects of the barbell movements. It is however recommended that the athlete has the basic movements learned and are consistently efficient with them. (Programming is only as successful as the efficacy of the motions being performed).

This is also a program for an athlete who has spent time in Level 1 and feels comfortable following a program without direct coaching.

For these 2 Levels programming will be based around the WODs as much as possible. However when the rest of the class is doing the strength work, you will not be required to do that. Use this time for mobility work, or to skill and drill one of the myriad other movements in the wonderful word of Crossfit.

Level 3 (for people who are not interested in WODs, but would like to become members of the barbell club) $100/month

-Same services as level 1

Members can set up the additional charges for the barbell club with the membership account that they already have.
