More about Crow Haller Farm

In 1982 my (Crystal) Dad dug a pond over in a seperate piece of property from where we were currently living. The land has been in our family since the early early 1900's. My grandfather Mart S Hall bought it when he came here from Kentucky. It is a tract of land that was a piece of about 1000 acres that he farmed. There are old stories of an Indian Burial ground that were on the back of the property just west of Mustang Creek.
When my grandfather passed away in 1962, the land was divided up among his children: Faye, Ogalala, Howard, Henry and my dad Marty. Most of it was sold off, the only part that is still in the bloodlines ownership is my 17 acres and my cousin's (40 acres I think, maybe more) that she has arfhouse on. It is the 3rd largest no kill canine sanctuary in the US. If you are ever looking to support a great cause please check her out: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ARFhouse/228476230305

Anyway, This pond that my dad had dug was a great place for frog gigging, fishing, cooking out and of coarse consuming a few (or a lot) of alcoholic beverages back in the 1980's. My Uncle Henry owned the house at the front of the property and used to try to fill the pond with ducks. However, a bobcat kept killing them. So my uncle starting putting out live traps and he put an end to the bobcat and his reign of terror over the ducks. (At least, that's one way to put it). That bobcat's beautiful hide was displayed for all to see in a frame in his living room.
Since then a single wide trailer house was moved out there and I (Crystal) have many memories of growing up there with my biological mother and my dad. There have been a couple other houses to come and go on the property since then as well.

I lived in that little single wide for almost all of my college life and loved it-despite the retro, booger green padded bar - ha ha ha!

Back in 2006, the little single wide had about had it and so I moved up to my dad's place (that was originally my uncle Henry's to which he then sold to my dad and moved off to Fort Worth) that I had inherited in 2004 when he went to be with Momma in heaven. I lived up there - the Hobo Hut where I ended up spending the first 4 years of my relationship and marriage to my wonderful husband, Steven Crow Jr. and my beautiful daughter, Rylee that I all but adopted when Steven and I got married. Mine and Steven's daughter Alice came along in May of 2010 and we all lived up at the HObo hut and were perfectly happy. During this time my usband and I (mainly my husband) tore down the old single wide and had some wonderful neighbor's help us clean the area up. Once the kids started getting bigger and Rylee starting living with us full time (July 2012), we thought it was time to get some more living space and I really wanted to go back home to the pond. So in June of 2013 my husband and I had a large, new double wide moved in where my old single wide was and we LOVE where we are! We are now loving our home and constantly making improvements and doing little crafty things here and there. I want to share our beautiful home and photos and experiences with my friends here on fb and thought that since this place had given me so much happiness and fulfillment, that it deserved to be known as it's own little "piece of paradise", thus "The Pond"
