Custer, Michigan

Custer is a village in Mason County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 285 at the 2010 census. The population density was 286.9PD/sqmi. There were 137 housing units at an average density of 138.4/sqmi. The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.4% Native American, and 1.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.9% of the population.There were 110 households of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.5% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 8.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.5% were non-families. 26.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.06.
