In order to control pests we will always take the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, which includes prevention, cultural practices, biological and chemical controls. Cut-Rite has been the local leader in safe and effective pesticide use in the Tahoe area for over 30 years. We put the safety of people and the environment as the number one priority in our operation.

Our formulations have always been and will continue to be the most environmentally friendly treatments available, while still being extremely effective on target pests. They have an extremely low toxicity to mammals (if ingested they are easily excreted out of the body and do not accumulate in any tissue), they do not leach or spread in soil, they break down extremely fast in soil, they do not bio-accumulate and once dry (typically one to two hours) they are almost completely safe to people and animals.

We take the utmost care to pinpoint and target the pest and use the least amount of chemicals that are necessary. We strive to save and keep as many non-target and beneficial insects as possible. We also only target outdoor pest when the weather conditions are just right, we do not spray if it is windy or raining or rain is expected or near open water.

We also have many other ways of controlling pest, including different application methods that are even more environmentally friendly such as soil and trunk injections. Bark Beetles can and will kill your trees! Preventative spraying (along with proper thinning) is recommended by the US Forest Service and the UC Davis Cooperative Extension (among many others) as a safe and effective way to protect your trees. The cost of tree spraying is only the fraction of the cost of removing dead trees. Also, once large trees die or are removed they are irreplaceable during your life time; they take decades to become large, mature, desirable trees that add to the value of your property.
