DAIP was founded in 2009 as the outgrowth of an informal network of diversity practitioners. Participants saw the need to involve a broader base of professionals in the inclusion discussion and to create a community dialogue about how diversity and inclusion impacts economic development, employment, education, corporate governance and community success.
Over the past few years DAIP has served as a professional network and unique opportunity for professionals in business, government and education to build their knowledge and skills. It has also been a forum for collaboration and sharing of resources and best practices between the public and private sectors. Industry experts have provided insights on a variety of current topics including:
• The benefits of a statewide approach to diversity
• The economic impact of diversity in Rhode Island
• Diversity communication strategies that work
• Best practice in building a diversity business strategy
• Creating a supportive environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community
