More about Daisy's Hope Foundation

Daisy's Hope Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our foundation's mission is to work towards ending shelter overpopulation by helping low income and senior pet owners who struggle in poverty. Working towards this mission, we provide subsidized spay and neuter vouchers, vaccinations, hold a monthly pet pantry with much needed food and supplies. We also host monthly adoption events at various venues. To make lasting change in the community, we go out into the community and provide education and information to pet owners and young people about having compassion towards animals and the benefits of spaying and neutering their animals. All of these efforts are work towards making a direct impact on reducing the number of animals that enter the shelter system in Southern California.

Daisy’s Hope is targeting under-served communities where the need is great, starting with San Bernardino. The city of San Bernardino has been in bankruptcy for many years, and ranks #2 in the nation in terms of poverty levels per capita. The city and county animal shelters are full, have very limited budgets and will euthanize for sickness and space.

The foundation has five board members: Jennifer and Steve Rosengard, Michelle Risser, Sara Alley, and Janine Nielsen. We have all independently fostered animals that have been rescued from one of the high kill shelters here in Southern California. We have witnessed (and worried over) the overwhelming number of cats and dogs that enter the shelter system at San Bernardino City and Devore, the county shelter. We have witnessed the numerous rescues and individuals who do everything in their power to network and save as many of these animals as possible. Unfortunately, the animals just keep coming in. We have come to the realization that, while we are saving lives as fosters, there isn’t enough being done to prevent these animals from entering the shelter system. And so, Daisy's Hope Foundation was formed.
