More about Dan Hobyn Stables

Dan Hobyn Stables is owned and managed by Dannette and Larry Morgan.

Dan Hobyn provides opportunities for instruction and competition in English riding, horse sports and horse management for childrean and adults. There is an emphasis on a full rounded knowledge of both riding and caring for horses, with safety being top of mind.

Lessons are focused on Combined Training/Eventing (dressage, cross country and show jumping), but dressage only lessons are an option. The barn is home to the White River Valley Pony Club; which has been at the barn since 1978. The barn mirrors its riding instruction, safety and horse management knowledge on the core values of the United States Pony Clubs.

The instructors at Dan Hobyn Stables have an affiliation with Pony Club, and while not required, young riders are encouraged to participate in pony club to make them well rounded equestrians. But all students/boarders will benefit from the Pony Club foundation of instruction, since education is the primary mission of the facility.

Dan Hobyn Stables History: Dan Hobyn Stables was established by Dannette Morgan in 1968. Dannette is a graduate of the British Horse Scociety and Salem College with a B.S. in Equine Sciences. Salem College was the first college in the country to offer a B.S. in Equine Science. She has gone on to further her education with a law degree.

Larry Morgan is a retired carpenter who competed in Eventing for several years. He is a craftsman at building cross country and stadium jumps. Larry has maintained the barn through out the years and is knowledgeable in handling horses.

Dannette & Larry were founding members of the Indiana Combined Training Association, now the Indiana Eventing Association, and contributed a great deal of time and effort in assisting with the 1984 Equestrian Pan Am Games held at Johnson Co. Parks & Recreation, and hosted an USEA Sanctioned Show at Johnson Co. Parks & Recreation for several years.

Dan Hobyn Stables is a 40 acre farm with ample galloping lanes, cross country jumps (ranging from Starter to Training Level), stadium jumps and a small and large dressage arena. There is a large indoor arena with sand footing for year round training. There are 23 stalls, with 2 large grass turn out areas and two smaller dry lot turn out areas. Horses are fed hay 4 times a day, and grained 2 times a day. The facility also has a large secure tack room/observation area and lockers new each stall for rent.
